KS desk
kansas carrier desk.
Kansas cover is I-70, I-35, wind, and farm equipment. Wichita and Kansas City KS are not the same permit as Missouri miles across the line. A Wichita census phone must still be called. Do not cover Kansas oversize on an Oklahoma or Missouri screenshot.
desks for this cover
- KDOT OS/OW
- Kansas oversize is KDOT. Wind and farm equipment still need the Kansas permit.
- Kansas vs Missouri miles
- Kansas City KS is KDOT. Kansas City MO is MoDOT. One cell is not both.
- Kansas Corporation Commission
- Intrastate authority is a KCC problem. Interstate BI&PD is L&I.
- 49 CFR 387.9
- Wind corridors do not change federal BI&PD floors. Confirm L&I the day of cover.
wind and the missouri line
Write KS or MO on the rate con. A Wyandotte County pickup is Kansas. A Jackson County warehouse is Missouri. Then match the MC to L&I. Do not cover Kansas miles on a MoDOT screenshot.
Wind-energy and farm equipment still need Subpart I securement and a KDOT permit when the piece will not ride legal. Oklahoma ODOT paper does not cover Kansas miles. Call the census telephone. A Wichita cell is not the office until it reaches the legal person on L&I.
KCC intrastate authority is a Kansas problem. Interstate BI&PD is still L&I. If the load leaves Kansas, read authority type. Intrastate-only is not enough for a load that continues to Oklahoma or Missouri.

FMCSA vs Kansas
An Active FMCSA property MC is interstate operating authority. It is not a Kansas oversize permit, not IRP, not IFTA, and not intrastate authority. If this load never leaves Kansas, ask whether they have the state credential — and still match legal name on L&I if an MC is on the rate con.
As of September 2026, table 1 to 49 CFR 387.9 still lists $750,000, $1,000,000, and $5,000,000. The January 16, 2026 change is broker/freight-forwarder BMC-84/85 at $75,000 — your house, not the truck. The March 2026 FMCSA notice still says: do not buy or sell a USDOT or MC outside a real corporate deal.
UCR is a separate annual filing. It is not BMC-91 and not a KS OS/OW permit. Confirm UCR on the national UCR site if your process requires it. Then come back to L&I for the truck.
Kansas permits and credentials
Kansas OS/OW is KDOT. Wind-energy and farm equipment moves still need the Kansas permit.
Kansas intrastate authority is a KCC problem. Interstate BI&PD is L&I.
Attach the KDOT permit for Kansas miles. MoDOT or Oklahoma paper does not cover them. Ask which legal entity holds the Kansas permit. If it is a different LLC than the rate con, stop.
first-touch in Kansas
- Is this pickup Kansas or Missouri?
- Do legal name, USDOT, and MC on the rate con match L&I?
- If oversize, is a KDOT permit in hand for these Kansas miles?
- Does the Wichita or Kansas City KS census telephone reach this motor carrier?
- If the load continues into Oklahoma or Missouri, whose permit covers those miles?

direct answers
- Can I cover Kansas City KS on a MoDOT permit?
- No. Kansas City KS miles need KDOT when over legal. Missouri miles need MoDOT. Interstate authority can cover both dockets if Active.
- Does a Wichita census phone skip the call?
- No. Call the number on SAFER. A load-board cell is not the census telephone.
- Is KCC authority the same as FMCSA BMC-91?
- No. KCC is a Kansas credential. Federal BI&PD is L&I. Keep them as two lines.
