OR desk
oregon carrier desk.
Oregon cover is I-5, I-84, lumber, and weight-mile tax. Portland OR is not Portland ME. Weight-mile and over-dimension permits are two Oregon conversations. Neither replaces BMC-91. Confirm L&I, then ODOT for this route.
desks for this cover
- ODOT over-dimension
- Oregon oversize is ODOT. Weight-mile tax is Oregon. Neither is BMC-91.
- Portland OR vs Portland ME
- Match the state on L&I. Maine paper does not cover Oregon miles.
- ODOT Commerce and Compliance
- IRP, IFTA, and weight-mile sit with ODOT and DMV. L&I is the federal BI&PD record.
- 49 CFR 387.9
- Federal floors are unchanged in September 2026. Confirm L&I the day you cover.
weight-mile is not bmc-91
Match the state on the census record. Portland Maine is a different desk. A Portland OR dispatcher LLC must still match L&I, including Inc versus LLC.
Weight-mile tax is Oregon. It is not 49 CFR 387.9 and not an over-dimension permit. Ask for the over-dimension permit separately when the piece will not ride legal. Do not cover Oregon miles on a Washington WSDOT PDF only.
Lumber and mill freight still need Subpart I securement. Mountain and coastal restrictions are ODOT routing. Pass holds are a cover call. They are not an Unsatisfactory rating and not a reason to skip L&I.

FMCSA vs Oregon
An Active FMCSA property MC is interstate operating authority. It is not a Oregon oversize permit, not IRP, not IFTA, and not intrastate authority. If this load never leaves Oregon, ask whether they have the state credential — and still match legal name on L&I if an MC is on the rate con.
As of September 2026, table 1 to 49 CFR 387.9 still lists $750,000, $1,000,000, and $5,000,000. The January 16, 2026 change is broker/freight-forwarder BMC-84/85 at $75,000 — your house, not the truck. The March 2026 FMCSA notice still says: do not buy or sell a USDOT or MC outside a real corporate deal.
UCR is a separate annual filing. It is not BMC-91 and not a OR OS/OW permit. Confirm UCR on the national UCR site if your process requires it. Then come back to L&I for the truck.
Oregon permits and credentials
Oregon over-dimension is ODOT. Weight-mile tax is Oregon — not 387.9.
Oregon IRP, IFTA, and weight-mile sit with ODOT/DMV. L&I is the federal BI&PD record.
Attach the ODOT over-dimension permit when the piece is over legal. Weight-mile proof is not that permit. Washington or Idaho paper does not cover Oregon miles.
first-touch in Oregon
- Is this Portland Oregon, or Portland Maine?
- Do legal name, USDOT, and MC on the rate con match L&I?
- If the piece is over legal, is an ODOT over-dimension permit in hand for these miles?
- Did you treat weight-mile as a separate Oregon conversation, not as insurance?
- If the load continues into Washington or Idaho, whose permit covers those miles?
fail closed
- Portland ME paperwork used on a Portland OR pickup.
- Weight-mile treated as BMC-91.
- Oregon miles covered on a Washington permit only.
- Oversize Oregon miles with no ODOT over-dimension permit.
direct answers
- Does Oregon weight-mile replace BMC-91?
- No. Weight-mile is an Oregon tax credential. Federal BI&PD is L&I. Confirm both if your process requires both.
- Is Portland OR the same desk as Portland ME?
- No. Match the state on the census record. Oregon over-dimension is ODOT. Maine overlimit is Maine DOT.
- Can I cover Oregon miles on a WSDOT permit only?
- No. Washington paper does not cover Oregon miles. Confirm L&I, then ODOT for these dimensions and this route.
